Are there any contacts to foreign 100 marathons clubs so far except to the 100 MC U.K. & Ireland?

What about the Japanese or the other European clubs concerning this project? Any interest and feedbacks?

The message above has been sent to contact members of the 100 marathon clubs in Danmark, USA, Finland, Norway an Japon ao far.

I can report a disappointing response to the invitation to join German 100 Marathoners either in Germany in October or at the Antalya Marathon in Turkey next March. A total of only three people indicated a willingness to travel to Germany. Four members said they would be interested in a trip to Turkey. Peter will now go back to his German contact and will then contact those who have expressed an interest.

I will let Hirendra Kurani know the position and ask whether the Germans are happy to meet up with the small number of people who have shown interest. I can let you know about possible ways of putting a Turkish trip together. It really is a German affair. Very few Brits are to be found in the race or even in the resort itself! There is an advantage in booking at least a race/hotel package with Oeger, the German tour company, as they lay on transport to the Start and from the Finish. ...

solange man sich an die Netiquette hält, ist jeglicher Kommentar erlaubt, natürlich gerne in deutsch, aber in Ausnahmefällen, wie diesem, auch mal in englisch, um unseren Marathonsammlern in anderen Ländern die Möglichkeit zu geben, hier mitzulesen.

Kurz zusammengefasst die englischen Einträge:

Sigrid hat eine Mitteilung verfasst, die Jobst ins englische übersetzt hat. Es geht dabei um ein weltweites Treffen von Mitgliedern aus 100 Marathon Clubs, das Sigrid im kommenden Frühjahr in Antalya/Türkei geplant hat in Verbindung mit dem Runtalya Marathon am 6. März 2011.

Diese Mitteilung wurde bereits an Kontaktmitglieder in einigen Ländern geschickt.

Peter wird nochmal mit Deutschland in Kontakt treten und anschließend diejenigen informieren, die Interesse bekundet haben.

Ich werde Hirendra Kurani unsere Position mitteilen und fragen, ob die Deutschen sich auf ein Treffen mit der kleinen Anzahl an Interessierten freuen würden. Hey Gunla, wie Michael schon übersetzt hat, haben wohl nur sehr wenige englische Läufer große Lust auf ein Marathontreffen in Deutschland (anscheinend nur drei Engländer).

Es ist bei den drei Engländern wohl Öjendorf (02.10.2010) in der engeren Wahl, ein Engländer bleibt dann vielleicht noch bis nach dem Kaltenkirchener Marathon (09.10.2010) in Deutschland. Hirendra ist am Ball ...

Gunla, it seems that you didn't realize that there are two different discussions about two different meetings!

One shall be a binational with your club (the German one) and my club (the British)! This meeting was discussed for Öjendorf and/or Kaltenkirchen, both in October and both in Germany (as you wished it)!

This article here is about Sigrid's invitation for a first WORLD-WIDE 100MC meeting which shall take place in Antalya in March 2011!!!

Following your "argument" "Not all members of the German 100 Marathon Club can travel to Antalya. Why can´t we meet in Germany?" we could also say:

Not all members of the 100 Marathon Clubs Japan and South Korea can travel to Antalya. Why can´t we meet in Japan or South Korea?

My dear Christian, I think Your English is not really that good. I do very well understand what Sigrid wants to say. Why are You so interrested in "my 100 Marathon club"? Why don`t you mind your own buisness? You are not any longer member of the German 100 Marathon Club!!!! I think it is a very good idea to meet all together!

I'm still a member of the 100 Marathon Club U. K. & Ireland! And as long as these ideas of a binational meeting and of a world-wide meeting both are concerning my club too, I'm still interested in the progress of both ideas.

Why don't you work for school or go running?

Well, these have been questions by a member of the 100MC U.K.! Quite easy! - But your problem is that you don't have any answers, only some stupid questions! The invitation is done by the German 100MC, which is your club. So show some positive work! I'm not involved in othe organizing club.

The article at the top is about the wordwide meeting of 100 Marathon Clubs in Antalya in March 2011 which is being organized and coordinated by Sigrid. In spite of this, a number of comments refer to a possible meeting between the 100MC UK and 100MC Germany. Also I have been named personally a couple of times.

ANTALYA MEETING IN MARCH 2011:

- It is not my intention to interfere with what Sigrid is doing or to comment on her behalf. However as far as I know, Sigrid has sent out the invitation letter to the various 100 Marathon Clubs only very recently. I take it that she will inform us on this page as and when there is new information on this issue.

- Members of 100 MC UK have been given the information about this meeting in Roger Biggs’ (Chairman 100MC UK) weekly Newsletter of 03.07.2010 and 09.07.2010.

- At the time of writing this comment it was not quite certain whether the text of Sigrid’s invitation (see the article above) will be included in its entirety in one of the issues of Roger Biggs’ weekly Newsletter in the near future.

POSSIBLE MEETING BETWEEN 100 MC UK AND 100 MC GERMANY:

I do not believe that the space under this article should be used for any purpose other than for a discussion about the wordwide meeting in Antalya. Since the issue of a joint race has been raised here, I simply wish to inform the readers that:

- I had been asked by the President (Peter G.) and the Vice-President (Mario S.) in March this year to contact the 100 MC UK to sound out the possibility and interest in a meeting and joint race between the two 100 MCs.

- Since then I have kept the concerned members of the Club Board (Peter, Mario, Jürgen and Arne) informed at all times of all the developments in this matter.

- To-date no information on this issue has been given on the club home page simply because so far there have been no developments worth the name.

- As soon as there are tangible results I shall obviously report to the Club board. The readers (both members and non-members alike) will be informed appropriately (but not under this article).

- If anybody has any questions about the meeting between 100 MC UK and 100 MC Germany, would they PLEASE send an email to me. (jogger(at)saeckekontor-kurani.de). As I have mentioned, there has not been much progress in this matter. Nevertheless, I shall be happy to answer any queries in this respect inasmuch as I have the information requested for.

On a more personal note: During my 17 years with a ship owner in Hamburg I have had intensive contacts with all sorts of people in the UK almost on a daily basis (ship owners, charterers, shipbrokers, insurance companies, P+I Clubs, surveyors, lawyers, junior Counsel, Queen’s Counsel, arbitrators and so on and so forth). During these 17 years I have travelled to London and other parts of UK something like 30 times. During all these years I have never ever found English humour to be abusive, offending or insulting. It is beyond my comprehension how a statement, that is very obviously demeaning, humiliating and insulting, can be termed as “English sense of humour”.

Thanks for your clear and positive comment and presentation!

Concerning ANTALYA MEETING IN MARCH 2011 I can tell you that Sigrid’s invitation letter has been published meanwhile in Roger Biggs’ Weekly Newsletter on 16th July (= yesterday).

Concerning the MEETING BETWEEN THE GERMAN 100MC & THE UK 100MC I was told by Peter Burns (also on yesterday) that so far just he and John Dawson are planning to come over in October.

For increasing the interest of my UK club fellows I told Peter and Roger that there will be a Teichwiesen marathon on 3rd Oct, the day after Oejendorf, and a (one-off) Daneverk marathon near Schleswig on 10th Oct. (10/10/10), the day after Kaltenkirchen. And there will be probably offered also Teichwiesen marathons on both fridays.

We have to look and see whether this will generate some more interest.

der Text oben ist über das weltweite Treffen der 100 Marathon Clubs in Antalya im März 2011, das von Sigrid organisiert und koordiniert wird. Trotzdem beziehen sich einige Kommentare auf ein evtl. Treffen zwischen 100 MC UK und 100 MC Deutschland. Auch bin ich persönlich einige Male namentlich genannt worden.

TREFFEN IN ANTALYA IM MÄRZ 2011:

- Es ist nicht meine Absicht mich bei Sigrids Vorhaben einzumischen oder an Ihrer Stelle eine Stellungnahme abzugeben. Sigrids Schreiben ist jedoch erst vor kurzem verschickt worden und ich nehme an, dass sie uns über diese Homepage informieren wird wenn sie etwas Neues über dieses Thema mitzuteilen hat.

- Mitglieder des 100 MC UK haben die Information über dieses Treffen in Roger Biggs wöchentlichem Rundschreiben v. 03.07.2010 und 09.07.2010 erhalten.

- Bis zum Schreiben dieses Kommentars war es nicht klar, ob Sigrids Einladung (s. Artikel oben den ich an Peter Burns weitergeleitet habe) in einer Ausgabe des Roger Biggs wöchentlichen Newsletter in naher Zukunft erscheinen wird. (Sigrids Text ist mittlerweile am 16.07.2010 erschienen).

EVENTUELLES TREFFEN ZWISCHEN 100 MC UK UND 100 MC DEUTSCHLAND:

- Im März dieses Jahres bin ich vom 1. Vorsitzenden (Peter G.) und dem 2. Vorsitzenden (Mario S.) beauftragt worden, Kontakt mit 100 MC UK aufzunehmen, um auszuloten, ob die Möglichkeit und das Interesse besteht einen gemeinsamen Lauf und ein Treffen zwischen den beiden Clubs zu organisieren.

- Seitdem habe ich den zuständigen bzw. betroffenen Vorstandsmitgliedern (Peter, Mario, Jürgen und Arne) stets zeitnah und über alle Entwicklungen in diesem Zusammenhang berichtet.

- Bisher ist keinerlei Information zu diesem Thema über die Club Homepage veröffentlicht worden, da es bisher keine konkreten Entwicklungen gibt, die diesen Namen verdienen.

- Sobald greifbare Ergebnisse vorliegen, werde ich den Vorstandsmitgliedern berichten. Selbstverständlich werden die Leser – sowohl die Mitglieder als auch die anderen – auch dementsprechend informiert (aber nicht unter diesem Artikel).

- Falls jedoch jemand Fragen zu diesem Thema haben sollte, dann möchte er/sie BITTE mir eine Email senden -jogger(at)saeckekontor-kurani.de. Wie bereits erwähnt: Es gibt bisher keinen großen Fortschritt. Dennoch werde ich gerne die Fragen beantworten, wenn ich die Information habe.

Zum Schluss eine persönliche Bemerkung: Während meiner 17-jährigen Tätigkeit bei einer Hamburger Reederei hatte ich sehr intensiven Kontakt (mehrmals am Tag) zu allen möglichen Leuten in Großbritannien (Reedereien, Befrachter, Schiffsmakler, Versicherer, P+I Clubs, Sachverständigen, Rechtsanwälte, Junior Counsel, Queen’s Counsel, Schiedsgerichte u.s.w. und so fort). In diesen 17 Jahren bin ich ca. 30 mal nach London und zu anderen Orten in GB gereist. In all diesen Jahren habe ich nicht ein einziges Mal den englischen Humor als beschimpfend oder beleidigend kennen gelernt. Es ist mir völlig schleierhaft wie man eine Aussage, die offensichtlich beleidigend und erniedrigend ist, als „English sense of humour“ bezeichnen kann.
